A product being live in Shopify or WooCommerce does not mean it is eligible to appear in Google Shopping. The store, feed, Merchant Center account and advertising campaign each have a job. Check them in that order before raising bids.
Start with one missing product
Find its item ID in Merchant Center and inspect its status and issue details. Separate an account-level problem from an item-level issue. A suspension or an unverified website needs a different response from a missing identifier on one product.
Record the exact issue, affected country and destination. Free listings and Shopping ads may have different eligibility, so an approved listing in one destination is not proof of advertising eligibility everywhere.
Make the feed match the landing page
- Price and currency: match what the customer can actually buy, including the correct sale price and GBP for the UK feed.
- Availability: synchronise stock and check each variant, not just the parent product.
- Identifiers: provide genuine GTINs where assigned, plus accurate brand and manufacturer details. Do not invent identifiers.
- Images: use clear product images that meet Google’s requirements, without promotional overlays.
- Links: send users to the correct product and selected variant, with a working mobile checkout.
Check your store settings
Review shipping regions, charges, delivery information and returns policies. Make sure important information is visible and consistent between the website and Merchant Center. Check domain verification, account links and whether the intended country is enabled.
For Irish sales, configure the destination and currency deliberately. A UK feed is not automatically a complete Irish setup. Confirm shipping and tax treatment with the people responsible for cross-border fulfilment.
Then inspect the campaign
An approved product may still receive no impressions. Check that the campaign is active, funded and linked to the right Merchant Center account. Inspect listing groups and product filters for accidental exclusions. Then review the bid strategy, budget, demand and competitive pricing.
A very restrictive return target can limit serving. Change one meaningful variable at a time and allow enough time to interpret the result. Approval makes a product eligible; it does not guarantee traffic.
Keep one dependable source of truth
Use your store integration or feed tool to maintain product data. Repeated manual fixes in Merchant Center may be overwritten by the next synchronisation. Correct the upstream title, price, identifier or availability, then verify the next update.
For Shopify and WooCommerce, inspect the actual values sent by the installed feed integration. Plugin labels and defaults vary; do not assume the product editor is the final payload. Check shipping prices and sale dates after promotions end.
A simple maintenance routine
Review new account issues, disapproved products and sudden drops in eligible inventory. Prioritise best sellers and high-margin groups. Keep a short change log so that a traffic drop can be traced to a feed update, stock event or campaign change.
Reference: Google’s product data specification. Requirements can change; use the issue details in your own account.
